Anxiety & Overthinking

Anxiety & Overthinking
More than just worry

Anxiety can show up in lots of different ways. For some people it's a constant stream of worry that never seems to switch off. For others it's overthinking, second-guessing decisions, or feeling like they have to think through every possible outcome before they can relax. Often these patterns start for understandable reasons. But over time they can become exhausting, taking up more space than we'd like and making everyday life feel harder than it needs to. Therapy can help you understand what's happening, make sense of the patterns you've fallen into, and begin finding a way forward that feels calmer and more manageable.

When your mind won't switch off

Many people I work with describe feeling stuck in their own heads. They replay conversations, analyse decisions they've already made, worry about things that haven't happened yet, or feel responsible for preparing for every possible outcome. The problem is that the more we try to think our way out of anxiety, the more attention we often end up giving it. What starts as trying to gain certainty can leave us feeling even more overwhelmed and stuck.

Understanding the cycle

Anxiety isn't a sign of weakness or failure. It's a normal human response designed to keep us safe. The difficulty comes when anxiety starts showing up in situations that don't really need that level of attention, leaving us constantly on alert and focused on what could go wrong. Together we can begin to understand what may be keeping it going.

Building confidence again

Over time, anxiety can chip away at confidence. You may find yourself avoiding certain situations, seeking reassurance from others, or struggling to trust your own judgement. Part of our work is helping you build confidence in your ability to cope, make decisions and navigate uncertainty without feeling controlled by it.
